Dr. Forlaw is an early recognizer as well as an early adopter of future trends. She has recognized the importance of Virtual Reality and its uses in the future in healthcare. She is exploring Virtual Reality as a practical approach to improving grocery shopping that supports healthy eating for families. She is an early adopter of the Wildatarian approach to healthy eating. She was an early adopter of the Bigu Qigong approach to weight maintenance and loss before Mindfulness became a household word. Dr. Forlaw’s teaching, coaching, mentoring and leadership skills are foundational to her entrepreneurial and academic work.
Dr. Forlaw has extensive experience clinical experience in addressing the nutritional needs of patients, clients, family and friends. She is a founding member of the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) and was a contributing developer of the Nutrition Support Nursing Certification Program. She was recognized as the Nutrition Support Nurse of the Year in 1992.
Nutrition has been a constant clinical thread throughout Dr. Forlaw’s career. Her doctoral work addressed an approach for promoting the nutritional health of patients with head and neck cancer. She hasn’t neglected freely advising and answering questions from families and friends about current healthy lifestyle trends. Dr. Forlaw first addressed the importance of Genomics and Personalized Medicine at a national conference 15 years ago. Her continued study of nutritional health, personalized medicine and her personal experiences have led her to share on the benefits of the Wildatarian Diet developed by Teri Cochrane as a healthy eating strategy and Bigu QiGong for losing and/or maintaining weight.
She has numerous publications: articles and book chapters addressing clinical nutrition issues.
Dr. Forlaw’s most recent community- based project addressed using Crockpot based meals to improve the quality of children’s /families eating habits.
As an early recognizer she’ll be sharing the good and not so good healthy living trends.
